Earth Day 2013... Why Should We Care?

Each morning I wake up, open my sleepy eyes
and look out through my windows to greet the new day...
my own little corner of the world.

Sweet melodies of the songbirds fill the air and my heart
and I am blessed that they choose my gardens...
as their home.

I believe we are guardians over this beautiful earth
and all the creatures that live within...

and as we do our part
to protect and provide...

our eyes are opened wide
to the everyday miracles around us.

And we are made better
because of our connection...
to them!

As we come to truly understand
our stewardship...

and take serious our role...

 we find delight
in every living creature!

 Through them
we may learn more about ourselves...

 and increase our desire
to show love and kindness to all living souls.

Even those
we may not particularly like.

Surely we will discover...

that their well-being
is entwined with ours!

 And then maybe
just maybe...

we can learn to live peacefully with each other.

Happy Earth Day

Resolve this day to do your part
to keep this world
a beautiful place for us all to live.

I've said goodby to Disqus... too many unfriendly changes.
IE visitors can now comment!
Thank you to those who emailed their comments to me.
You are sweet friends.  :)

    1. I have loved Disqus. (Past tense accentuated.) Disqus was great until they announced they were making big changes. They promised to correct the problems I addressed, but never seemed to get around to it. It was bad enough that comments wouldn't link back any longer, but I also discovered that IE visitors just couldn't comment at all. Thankful that all my comments didn't disappear with the import but sad that past comments do not have my replies attached. It really is important to me to be able to link back to my readers. I do enjoy visiting each of them... disqus made it hard. Onward from here.

    2. That explains why Disqus said you replied ... but when I clicked thru, I found a thread curiously empty of any replies from you at all.

    3. Oh! and thank you, Diana, regarding the heads up about the spam. Disqus did an excellent job filtering that... may miss that feature.

  3. Such beautiful photos...you have amazing wildlife in your garden.

And I am kind of glad it's back to normal commenting..much easier, especially for those of us who read a lot of blogs.

  4. Such amazing photos of the wildlife in your garden. Hope you are enjoying some sunshine inbetween all the gardening. I'm aching all over from heavy digging ( even though hubby took over to help me ) planting some shrubs I've over wintered in pots.

  8. Such beautiful photos and very thoughtful commentary to go with them! My belief is that all creatures have a purpose, and humans are here to serve as managers and protectors of the rest of creation. You are doing your part well in your corner of the world!

    1. Something about digging our fingers in the soil allows us special privileges as gardeners don't cha think?
