A Soft and Subtle Reminder...

A single red leaf from my Forest Pansy tree
serves as a soft and subtle reminder
to begin each new day
with a grateful heart...

The warmth of the Autumn sun several weeks ago
coaxed a new leaf to emerge
amidst the gold and green of the Autumn colors of the surrounding branches.

This beautiful tree's leaves bloom red in the Spring,
deepens to burgundy with darkest green veins in the Summer,
then slips into shades of soft hues of yellows and lime greens in the Fall.

What an absolute delight to look out my window
and see this lone little heart
shining bright.

A simple and oh so subtle reminder
to feel the joy that only a grateful heart can bring.

Wishing you all the joys of this
Season of Thanksgiving!

  2. It is a heart, isn't it? For some reasons, colours like these always surprise me more in autumn than do the oranges and yellows.

  8. I love 'Forest Pansy' and how wonderful that your tree produced a new leaf. All the leaves are gone from mine, and I just cleaned out underneath it. Carolyn

  11. It is amazing what happens in the garden: we had buds forming on several of the pepper plants, that is before the frost hit the other day.

Happy Thanksgiving! May your day be filled with blessings.

  14. Yes, we have much to be thankful for, and it's good to be mindful of them instead of focusing on our problems, which I sometimes do.

I have a co-worker I'm having difficulty. I tried to ask her not to step in when I'm working with a student Wednesday, and she wouldn't even let me finish what I was saying, and started accusing me of something that's not true. It didn't go well, and I know God will be with me tomorrow when I have to be around her again, but I'm having trouble keeping my focus on the here and now. Please say a prayer for me as you read this.
