Tuesday was a blustery day in my gardens,
much cooler temperatures
and rain.
and rain.
I love rain in my gardens.
As the clouds began to slowly lift,
I looked out my window to see this...
Snow on my mountain!
The season is changing, ready or not.
So beautiful to look at... from this distance.
But I need Fall to linger a little longer.
As promised last week, here is my post for the Alpine Loop,
a premier scenic drive to view the Autumn colors in Utah.
♦ ♦ ♦
Sunday late afternoon we took a drive up the canyon.
Within 10 minutes from our home we are surrounded by extraordinary Fall scenery.
Come take the drive with us!
On Sunday, the clouds were just beginning to gather.
The air was crisp and clean.
We could sense change was coming.
Today these mountains are frosted with snow.
We chose a good day for a scenic drive.
The Maples have turned a gorgeous red.
But these leaves still need to fall...
They've been waiting all year for the Autumn dance to begin!
But these leaves still need to fall...
They've been waiting all year for the Autumn dance to begin!
The Quaking Aspens...
adorned in their golden cloaks.
Their tiny leaves quiver in the Autumn breeze.
Last week on our visit to Sundance,
the Quakies were still dressed in Summer greens.
Change happens quickly in these Utah mountains.
Experience tells me
that yesterday's snow will most likely melt
as temperatures warm up
later in the week.

Our first snow is just a teaser of what is yet to come.

In a few days I'll post
the Cascade Springs portion of this beautiful drive.
We walked the boardwalk of nature trails and bridges
that weave through the natural springs, and yes,
we did see native trout in the crystal clear waters.
I've been so busy this morning, I didn't even realize it had snowed last night!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteWe may have snow tomorrow in our mountain too. A big wind of cold from Russia is coming in Greece. Today we start the fire in the fireplace.
I am so smitten with the Aspen tress! Beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing that catches in my throat like the sight of red maples in their glory. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteToday felt like the first day of fall for me. The snow on the mountains just completes the feeling. I've realized snow is a part of fall and spring as much as winter. I need to take a drive too!
ReplyDeleteOverawed by your mountain views and the foreboding skies - aspens not bothered!
ReplyDeleteTruly breathtaking and dramatic. New England is so soft and worn compared to your rugged fantastic landscape. Beautiful photos! ;>)
ReplyDeleteI love to enjoy the snow from afar...very far! I like your fall photos, too. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely, The fall colours are so pretty and I love the look of the aspen bark and yellow leaves. I look forward to your next post with anticpation - trout - oh my!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you made a trip through the Alpine Loop? I went through last week - beautiful! I will have to post some of my pictures too - although I don't have the talent you have with photography!
ReplyDeleteI'm not feeling quite ready for snow yet, but your fall scenes are wonderful. What a beautiful part of the country you live in. -Jean
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery! Here in Croatia is still pretty warm and green, but autumn is comming slowly and surely...
ReplyDeleteOh brrrr! not quite ready for snow. I like it as you show it... at a distance. ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of foliage and color and mountains - my favorite time of the year. Thank you so much for your visit and much appreciated comments. Have a great weekend.
It is beautiful to see such grandeur. I always treasure every moment of autumn in Maine. And I'm so happy to experience the snow on your mountain and the beauty in your Utah. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI like it to rain in my garden too, but I'm particular. I don't want it to happen while I'm off work! I want it to rain like crazy while I'm working, then clear up when I go home! LOL
ReplyDeleteSpectacular fall color. And snow too. A little early to be thinking snow. We get enough of it here, but don't have the glorious mountains.
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful there! Our trees are just starting to change now - no snow yet though!
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking us along for the scenic drive:) We at the opposite hemisphere (south) are welcoming the warm weather.
ReplyDeleteSuch magnificent views. Wow.
