The Grand Canyon
National Park
Arizona
Just got home from a road trip to Arizona to welcome our newest grandaughter.
Of course, she is the most amazing wonder of our trip
with her perfect little heart shaped smile and bight blues eyes,
but we also made time for a quick stop to see the Grand Canyon.
The Grand Canyon is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon
which was carved by the Colorado River
in the United States
in the state of Arizona.
The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide and attains a depth of over 6000 feet. The Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted exposing nearly two billion years of the Earth's geological history.

We did encounter a few of the natural inhabitants of the canyon
who were gracious enough to allow us to photograph them.

ReplyDeleteOh, congratulations on your latest new family addition! And thank you for the views of the Grand Canyon, what a beautiful place. I was there once, for about five minutes (I wish that was an exaggeration, but it's not, long story!) and I found it to be the most breath-taking sight. Some day I hope to go back again, when I can stay a 'little' longer. I am in awe of your photos.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new grandchild! What glorious vistas! I love how you include some of the wildlife too! Sweet bird! ;>)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your newest grandchild - mmm I wonder what rose this one is going to get in your garden?

ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new addition to the family. What a joy. Thanks for taking us along on your trip. The Grand Canyon was a place I visited along time ago and the majesty of it all still stayed with me after all these years. An astounding place that can make you speechless.
ReplyDeleteDear Meredhuit, I really find it difficult to comprehend the sheer scale of the Grand Canyon. It must be a breathtaking sight when viewed at first hand.
ReplyDeleteWhat joy, a new grandchild!!
Congrats to you on the new grand child! Isn't the Grand Canyon wonderful? We were just there last fall, and stayed all day just to ogle everything.
ReplyDeleteWe have visited the Grand Canyon and it is something that you can't describe to somebody; I say they have to be there to witness the beauty and vastness for themselves. Sonona,Arizona is another beautiful place, especially looking out that small church that overlooks the RedRock. It's name is escaping me now but if you have ever been there, you's know which one I mean.
